Pour new clubs were accepted for the coming season by the Hutt Valley Cricket Association at its annual meeting on Thursday evening. “During the second term, forty-two pupils (19 girls and 23 boys) left, practically all of these taking up positions,” states the principal of the Petone Memorial Technical College, Mr. A. McFadyen, in his report to the Board of Managers. The Hutt Valley Lawn Tenuis SubAssociation is seeking suitable courts, and yesterday wrote to the Hutt County Council asking if the council had an area suitable for the purpose. The clerk was instructed to supply the association with a list of the council’s reserves in the Hutt Valley. The new electric range donated to the college by the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, was installed in the Petone Memorial Technical College during "the holidays. It Is considered that this will greatly improve the facilities for instruction in the cookery department, and the college expresses its appreciation to the board for its gift. School committees in the Hutt Valley are being circularised to attend a meeting to discuss the desirability of appointing a deputation to wait on tho Minister of Justice, with the object of having the Gaming Act amended to make legal the holding of euchre tournaments by school committees for the purpose of augmenting the capitation grant. The desirability of resuscitating the Hutt. Valley School Committees’ Association will also be considered.
