VICTORIA COLLEGE
Meeting of Tennis Club About forty members were present at the annual meeting of the Victoria University College Tennis Club, which took place this week. The patron, Professor F. P. Wilson, was in the chair. Professor Wilson, when moving the adoption of the annual report, referred to the enthusiasm of the retiring committee, us shown by the full attendances at committee meetings. He expressed his pleasure that there had been great activity in connection with the ladder, and stressed the importance of ladder play to those who took the game seriously. He drew attention to the reference to the new volley board which bad recently been erected ,and gave some useful hints as to its proper purpose. Many players, he said, were inclined to confine their volleyboard practice to driving, whereas the proper course was to stand in close and train eye and wrist by continual volleying. He congratulated those who had won college or university blues, and in addition the ladies’ second division team, which has the honour of having its name inscribed first on tho cup presented by A. G. Spalding and Sons, Ltd., for competition in that division. New Zealand University blues were won by Misses M. H. Line and L. C. Tjongmore. Misses M. IT. Line, L. C. Longmore. T. 11. Gill. S. S.
