FRENCH CLUB REUNION

A Novel Entertainment The “Cercle Franchise” held Its fortnightly reunion at the Pioneer Club recently. The Misses Smythson supplied the programme. An interesting competition had been arranged m which scenes, chosen from various wellknown French plays and dramas, were represented and had to be guessed. The first prize was awarded to Mons. F. BOuillet and the second to Miss Eccles. Scenes from the following works were presented with con victions success: Le ■ Barbier de Seville, Misses I. and'o. Smythson; L’Aiglon, Mons. Bouillet; Le Tartuffe, Mesdames Green, J. de Filippi and Finlayson; Les Precieuses Ridicules, Mrs. A. Scott; Le Juif Polonals; Mr. Miles; Le Barbier de Seville, “La Calomnie,” Mr. Miles; Cyrano de Bergerac, Mme. Benge and Professor Boyd-Wilson; Rosalie, Mme. Dechant-Mclntosh and Professor Boyd-Wilson; La Pondre aux yeux, Mesdames Finlayson and Lash; . Le Grant, Misses Eccles, Prldeaux-Pridham and Professor Boyd-Wilson. Several of the scenes were given in costumes of the period. The conversation circle was conducted by Mme. Finlayson. Miss Mead acted as hostess. Supper closed the evening.
