BRIDGE PARTY

New Zealand Legion

A very successful bridge party was held by the Kelburn centre of the New Zealand Legion at the Kelburn Kiosk, on Thursday evening. There were approximately SO members present, who competed enthusiastically for the prizes. The prize for the highest score was won by Mrs. Bilton, and that for the hidden number by Mr. Dougall. The evening was arranged by an energetic committee, ■ comprising Messrs. Doherty, chairman of the Kelburn Centre, Clouston, A. D. Kerr, Bliss, Whelan and Mathewson, Mrs. Bateson and Mrs. Kerr, supported by an enthusiastic band of heljrgrs. * Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Doherty, Mr. W. Irons, and Miss Irons, Mr. and Mrs. Dodd., Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Clouston, Mr. and Mrs. A. Kerr, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Whelan, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Archibald, and Mr. L. Tingey. Mesdames Bateson, Jolliffe, D. W. Wright, Neilsen, Misses Robinson, I. Adams, M. Wilcox, M. Boilings, Inglis, and other friends.

In a speech at; the conclusion of the party, Mr. Doherty intimated that more of these social functions would be held in the near future. .
