Monthly Meeting Held
The monthly meeting of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was held recently. There were present: Mrs. Tythe-Brown, in the chair,. Mesdames Miller, Aiken, White, Robertson, Hodson, Wood, Bullock, Leach, Vautier, McNair. Moore. Evatt, Maylor, Nees. Gordon, Good, McDonald, Wear, Gray, McLean, and Misses Barnett and Cameron. Apologies were received from Mesdames B. B. Mood, C. E. Richardson. Johnson, Yickerman, Cooke, Burgess, Ralph, Luke, Pearce, Parton, and Miss Kane. The president welcomed Mrs. Vautier as a new member of the committee. r The Blanket nurses reported that the number of new cases were 148, and the number of visits to homes were 1627. The total number of visits to offices were: Adults, 2497: babies, 1028; and chilurcn, 338, Analysis of feeding were: Number of babies wholly breast-fed. 116; partially breast-fed, 21; and artificially fed, 11. Expectant mothers: New cases, -3; still under supervision, 156. The nurses thank Mesdames Green, Jack, Allen, M. Paterson. Gregory, M elch. Thompson, Grove, and Miss Cooper for driving them during the month. The Denhard Bakeries for bread for distribution among the poor, and Mesdames Eccles, Kirkcaldie, White, Campbell, Aiderton, Hunt, Heald, Hodson, Salek, Gear, for clothes for distribution, and Mrs. Milton and Mrs. Lcniston for flowers and Mrs. Ellestone for a cot, and Mrs. McEldowney, pillow-cases. . Tr ... At the Truby King Karitane Hospital admissions for the month were 14 mothers and 20 babies. The length of stay of mothers ranged from one day to three weeks, and the length of stay of babies from one day to eight weeks. Ihe cases were admitted from Lower Hutt, letonc, Masterton, and Wellington and suburbs. The visitors for the mouth numbered 41U. The matron thanks the following for gifts:—Sir Truby King, flowers; Lady Armstrong, woollies; N.Z. Co-op. Rennet Co., “Renco”; Mr. Huse, a pint of cream weekly; Mrs. Ward, illustrated papers; Mrs Morey, sewing one day a week and for two bed jackets. Mrs Mayjor was appointed a member of the Kantane house committee. Ihe committee ‘-M’fh'ti ed its appreciation of the gift of a beautifully dressed doll from Mrs. Scott, sent in appreciation of the help she had received from the society. The resignation of Mis. J. m. A Hott was received with regret.
