WEDDING

Hart —Thurston A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, Hastings, on Saturday, when Veronica Mary, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Thurston. Masterton, was married to Irvine Alfred, son of Air. and Mrs. M'. A. Hart, Carterton. The Rev. Father Stewart, assisted by the Rev. Father Devlin, of Takapau, officiated at the ceremony. Aladame Lelievre played the marches and wedding music, and during the service Air. B. Gnadinger, Masterton, saug the "Pater Noster.” The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model frock of soft magnolia satin. The bodice was closely fitting with cowl drapery at the back and elbow-length puff sleeves, flared and gathered. The skirt was moulded and stitched at the hips, flaring in godets at the hem. A tulle 'veil was worn from a Juliet cap of lace encircled with orange blossoms and fell in long folds as a train. A sheaf of white roses, pink carnations and lily of the valley was carried.

Atiss Al. Thurston, sister of the bride, chief bridesmaid, and Aliss G. Hart were similarly attired in long frocks of coral pink mariette. The bodices, over which were worn coatees with little cape sleeves and peplum flounces, were moulded, and the skirts had inset stitched bands fitting the hips flaring from the knees to a full hemline. Hats of straw finished with velvet ribbons were worn, and both bridesmaids carried bouquets of coral and paler pink roses and bronze foliage. Janet Fox, aged three years, cousin of the bride, was attired in a French hand-made frock of coral crepe de chine. Round her hair was a bandeau of pink ribbon with pink georgette roses. Air. N. G. M’hiteman, Alasterton, was best mau, and Mr. J. F. Thurston, brother of the bride, was groomsman. After the ceremony some relatives and old friends were entertained at the residence of Air. and Mrs. ,T. For, Nelson Street, the unelc and aunt of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Fox received the guests with Mr. and Airs. Thurston, the bride’s parents. Air. and Mrs. ML A. Hart, parents of the bridegroom, were also present. When the bride and bridegroom left by car for the north, the bride was wearing a smart French model suit of finely woven ocean blue wool. The coatee was gored at the waist in the newest design, with short sleeves inset with narrow pleats at the elbows. A waistcoat of white silk pique was matched by a white French bag and Jong white gloves. The skirt was gored and finished at the hem with finely pleated godets. The ocean blue straw hat was trimed effectively with a pleated chou of white angel-skin satin.
