The Federation Aeronautics Interna ti’onal has confirmed the world altitude record for aeroplanes established recently bv Captain C. F. Uwins, a well-known British airman, in a Vickers Vespa biplane, with Bristol Pegasus Engine. , J u• u. f Captain Uwins reached a height of about eight miles and a half, beating the previous record held by the United States by 800 feet.
