COLLEGE ENTERTAINS

Wellington East Girls ENJOYABLE EVENING Two plays formed part of the enjoyable entertainment presented by the Wellington East Girls’ College at the Concert Chamber last night. In “The Blue Bird,” by Maeterlinck, Joyce Binnio and Mollie Denton took the important parts of Tyltyl and Myltyl, the other characters being portrayed by M. Chudley, B. Turner, M. Wilson, M. Down, J. Trevithick, J. Murdock, N. Larkin, D. Patrick, J. Nalder, I. McNarn, J. Power-Collins, N, Turner, P. Bridge, E. Johnston, N. Highet, J. Neil, J. Parker, N. Pritchard, L. Tldbury, N. Blake, M. Wilson, B. Tait. The second play was performed by the Old Girls’ Dramatic Club, and the scene was set In a cellar in Grosvenor Square during an air raid, 1917. Parts were played by Misses Joyce Gibson, Nola Millar, Mavis Windsor, Irene Fleming, Joyce Miller, and Mollie Chisholm. Charming songs by members of Forms lIIA2, 11181, 11182, VAI, VA2 formed part of the programme, and the schoolgirls’ contribution also included clever Swedish drill, wand drill, British drill, and folk dancing, which was very effective. An overture was played by the Rongotal College Orchestra conducted by Mr. E. Meier. Last night Mrs. Wilfred Andrews was the soloist of the evening and sang some songs which were greatly enjoyed by the large audience. Tonight, when the concert will be repeated, Mrs. Amy Woodward will be the soloist.
