Successful Town Hall Concert THEIR EXCELLENCIES ATTEND One of the most successful concerts given by the Wellington Symphony Orchestra was held last night in the Town Hall. Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and the Lady Bledisloe, were present and were accompanied by Mrs. Veale and I Captain Tweedie. They were met in the Mayoress s room at the Town Hall by Mr. D. A. Ewen, president, and Mrs. Ewen, and Mrs. Knox-Gilmer, vice-president and chairwoman of the women’s auxiliary. Her Excellency made a very charming figure in a graceful frock of leafgreen lace and a handsome long white fur coat. Mrs. Veale chose a frock of champagne georgette and lace and a rosepink and beige coat trimmed with beige fur. | Mrs. Ewen wore a well-cut! black satin gown with a jade green velvet coat and a smart gold tissue turban. Mrs. Knox-Gilmer was wearing a black lace and georgette frock with a fur-trimmed velvet coat. There were three lady solo performers in addition to the orchestra — Madam de Mauny (harp), who chose a frock of black georgette worn under a silver lame bridge coat; Miss Ava Symons (violin), who had on a handsome frock of teal green chiffon velvet, with rhinestone buckles at the shoulders; and Miss Helen Gard’ner, in a gown of powder blue lace over shell pink. After the concert the orchestra were entertained at supper in the Concert Chamber as the guests of Dr. and Mrs. A. T. Hickey. Unfortunately illness prevented Dr. Hickey from being present.
