LYCEUM CLUB

Miss Elliott & Mr. Ritchard Entertained The Music Circle of the Lyceum Club was responsible for the delightful reception held yesterday afternoon at the club rooms in honour of Miss Madge Elliott and Mr. Cyril Ritchard, of the “Blue Roses” Company. Miss Nelson was the hostess for the afternoon, and the vice-president, Mrs. Oakley, received the guests of honour. She presented Miss Elliott with a dainty posy of mauve and cream freesias and violets, and in a happy little speech of welcome referred to the great pleasure New Zealand people derived from, the visits of artists of the legitimate stage. Miss Elliott’s smart cloth dress was of soft raisin brown, and She wore a matching crochet cap and a beautiful fur coat.

The cheerful club room was bright witfh flowers, Iceland poppies making a lovely show at the flreplace and rhododendrons being artistically arranged on the small tables.

The following programme was much enjoyel:—Pianoforte solo, Mrs. Bentley; song, Mrs. D. A. Herbert; recitation, Miss Joyce Barker; song, Miss K. Fuller.

During afternoon tea many members had the opportunity of meeting and chatting with the guests of honour, and the afternoon was a most enjoyable one.
