Morison—Stringfellow

A pretty and quiet Wedding was solemnised at St. Luke's Church, Greytown, On the evening of July 26,’ whbn the Rev.. Mr. Isaacson officiated at the marriage of Phyllis Copland, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.. Stringfellow, Welbeck, Greytown, to James. Colin, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Morison, Glenmorven, Morison’s Bush. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with arum lilies, heath, and spring flowers. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a simple but charming gown of parchment ring velvet cut on classical lines. Her long.tulle veil was arranged in cap fashion with orange blossoms, and fell in folds to form atrain. She wore a string of pearls and carried a sheath of arum lilies tied with ribbon from her mother’s wedding bouquet.

The bridesmaid, sister of the bride, wore a mulberry ring velvet frock cut similarly to the bride’s. She wore a wreath of gold leaves on her head, gold shoes and mittens, and a gold lace muff trimmed with maidenhair fern and spring flowers. Mr. W. Usher, Cape River, Martinborough, was best man and Mr. W. Stringfellow was usher. As the bride left the church her little nephew, Donald Morison, hung a silver horseshoe trimmed with orange blossoms and ribbon streamers on her arm.

The reception, was held at the home of the bride’s parents, when Mrs. Stringfellow received her guests wearing a frock of black marietta relieved with white, and a black hat with osprey and carried a posy of violets and qnaldenhalr fern. Mrs. Morison, mother of the bridegroom, wore a model frock of crepe satin with felt hat to tone, her posy was made of daphne and maidenhair. Later the happy couple left by car for the north, the bride travelling in a lovely frock of brown with blue trimmings, -brown shoes and hat to tone, and a musquash coat, the gift of the bridegroom. MIRAMAR TENNIS DANCE The first annual dance of the Miramar Tennis Club was held recently at the Town Hall, Miramar. The hall was decorated with the Club’s colours, and no effort was spared by the committee to provide an enjoyable evening for the members and friends of the club. The success of the evening was in no small measure due to the excellent music and the dainty supper that was provided, together with splendid service rendered by the M.C.’s, Messrs. Oldfield and Pinkerton.

During the evening the opportunity was taken by the president, Mr. H, B. Townsend, and Mrs. Townsend, to present the cups and trophies which had been won by the following members in the club’ competitions during the year. Just prior to this interlude little Leslee Davis presented Mrs. Townsend with a beautiful bouquet;— Championship events: Men’s singles, J. Scott; women’s singles, Mrs. J. Houszego; men’s ’ doubles, Cooper and Cook; women's doubles, Mesdames Hay and Wallace; mixed doubles, M. Wallace and Mrs. Wallace.

Handicap events: Men’s singles, G. Hill; women’s singles, Mrs. Ludlow; men’s doubles, Lochore and Hill; women’s doubles, Mrs. Gibson and Miss Hands; mixed doubles, Tucker and Miss Christophersen. Most improved member, A. M. Pinkerton.

Hill, King, Lambert, Walla, Davis, Messrs. Oldfield, Pinkerton, G. Hanlon, Henry, Cooper, Elborn, Wallace, Tucker, Lochore, Hill, Myers, Houszego, Ludlow, K. Hanlon, Lawton, Sinclair, Swinburne, Gibson, Duncan, Murphy, F. Townsend, C. Davis, M. Davis, J. Davis, Russell, Marshall, Norton-Taylor, Grant, Clark, Wood, A. Haley, R. Haley, Romain, Rixon, Were, Adams, Ball, Johnston, Pitt, Arbuckle, McClure.

The resignation of Sister Keith, theatre sister, was accepted, with re-gret,-by the Wellington Hospital Board yesterday.
