OLD GIRLS’ DANCE

Wellington East College

A dance given by the Wellington East Girls’ College Old Girls’ Association -was held recently ini the Pharmacy Hall, and was a great, success.

The hostesses for- the evening were Miss A. Batham, who wore a frock of wine embossed georgette; Mrs. F. Holdsworth, in a gown of black georgette . and lace; Miss R.. M. Collins, in m.auve georgette; and Mrs. W. White, wearing black chiffon velvet. . Each hostess was' presented with a shoulder spray of natural flowers upon her arrival.

The supper room and tables were artistically decorated in the college colours, and a delectable supper was served. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Misses Mildred East (blue and maize floral taffeta), Kathleen White (apricot taffeta), Kathleen Holdsworth (royal blue georgette), Dorothy Carson (burgundy satin), Doreen Cunningham (flame georgette), Marjorie Ston'e (apple green satin), Jean Mitchell (daffodil yellow taffeta), Amy Carson (peach satin), Joyce Gibson (scarlet lace), and Meg Parker (pink lace). Among, the many guests were Miss A. F. C. Marsdon, who wore a frock of black georgette; Mrs. E. C. Hands, cherry lace; Mesdames Lynam and Pocock, Misses M. Windsor, M. Amera, J. Hands, S. Eberlet, J. Catholic Lawn Tennis .i Association • The anual dance of the Wellington Catholic Lawn Tennis Association was held at St. Francis Hall on Wednesday evening. About 60 couples were present, among whom were noticed: — Misses Hungerford, Nissen, Butler, Griffin, Joblin, Haydon, McCormack, Anderson, M. Williams, Alexander, Dealy, O’Driscoll, Mansfield, N. Williams, Martindale, Fanning, Wynne, Gould, McCosker, Brennen, Ryan, Callinan, Fleming, Hickmott, O’Regan, Wolfe (2), Roache, Walden; Messrs. McGlinchey, Nixon, Butler, Laracy, Hunt, Lathan, Carroll, Frost, Gould, Read, Williams, Burke, Bingley (2), Madden, Darroch, Keogh, Pender, Morrison, Callinan, Hickmott, Murphy, Gasquoine, O’Driscoll, Gamble, Burns, Ryan, Newman, Barnes.

During the evening Mr. P. Williams (president of the association), presented the trophies won by the clubs during the season; trophies were also presented by the New Zealand Catholic Lawn Tennis Association.

The opportunity was taken to make a small presentation on behalf of the association to Miss Monica McCormack oh the eve of her coming marriage. The success of the dance reflected the efforts of the energetic committee.
