LORD & LADY BLEDISLOE

Welcomed by Wanganui Women Wanganui, June 13. The Wanganui branch of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union held an enjoyable afternoon on Wednesday when their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe were the guests of honour. St. Paul’s Hall, lent for the occasion, was handsomely decorated with masses of glowing autumn leaves and berries against tall clumps of bamboo. At their Excellencies’ table were Mrs. J. O. Wickham, president of the Wanganui branch; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Rogers, mayor and mayoress of Wanganui.; Mr. W. J. Polson, president of the Farmers’ Union, and Mrs. Polson; Mesdames R. Lilburn, D. Blyth, J. Martin, G. Darbyshire, D. G. Polson, and Miss Polson, Messrs. T. Currie and D. Blyth.
