Local Body Elections Palmerston North, June 13. A remit requiring the Act to be amended to allow absentee ratepayers to record their votes by post in local body elections, was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the Dairy Farmers Union upon its receipt from the Pohangl Mr? A. n ßalmer said that for the recent Pohangina council election one voter had had to come from Masterton, and another from Wanganui, to record their votes, while another man in hospital had lost his franchise. The system of voting in local body elections should be operated on the same basis as Parliamentary elecIt was decided to hold the matter over until next meeting, in order to obtain further information.
