Mrs. Carrick, of Masterton, is visiting Napier. Madame Ivo Symes, of Wanganui, is in Palmerston North. Miss E. Chamberlain has returned to Masterton from a visit to Australia. Mr. and Mrs. D. Young, of Kiwitea. are visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Murdo McLeod, of Palmerston North, are spending a holiday in Auckland. Mrs. B. Gillies has returned to Palmerston North after spending a holiday at Paraparaumu beach. Mrs. Binns, of Langston Avenue. Palmerston North, has been visiting Paraparaumu beach. Miss Mavis Walker, of Palmerston North, has been visiting Wellington, and is now spending a holiday in Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mcßeth, who went to Palmerston North last week, have returned to •'Wanganui. Miss B. Wright, of Havelock North, is staying with her aunt, Mrs. W. B. Chennells. at Masterton. Mrs- H. E. Pither and her children, from Masterton, are at Paekakariki for ' the school vacation. Miss Margaret Grigor, of Fitchett Street, Palmerston North, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. J. B. Wilton, of Featherston Street, Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs. G. M. Rout, of Nelson. Mrs. Hughes-Johnson and Miss Audrey Hughes-Johnson, of Wanganui, have been visiting Palmerston North. Miss M. A. Sanderson, of Marton, who will shortly return to England, is visiting Mrs, D. H. Rutherford at Masterton for a few days. * Among Wanganui visitors to Palmerston North for the competitions festival are Mesdames W. Hunter, G. R. Cramond, H. R. Jones. Vernon, H. Hulme and Miss K. Nelson. Advice has been received by the Masterton secretary of the Trinity College of Music, London, that Miss Rita M. McAnulty, of Kaiparoro, Eketahuna, lias been awarded an exhibition scholarship. Miss McAnulty. who is a pupil of Miss M. Berry, A.T.C.L., Nireaha, Eketahuna, gained 94 marks out of the possible JOO in the senior section of the November, examination held in Masterton last year. Last Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Rutherford, of Cunningham’s (Feilding) entertained about 80 guests at a party in the Beaconsfield School, the occasion being the twenty-first birthday of their twin sons. Messrs. Lawrence and Clifford Rutherford. Blue hydrangeas, foliage, and coloured streamers made the room bright, ami a log fire crackled cheerily. Dancing, games, and competitions were held. The mrthflay cake was cut, and the health of the guests of honour was proposed by Mr. A. Entwisle.
