WOMEN’S ACTIVITIES

The Melrose branch of the Women’s National Reserve held an enjoyable afternoon recently, when Mrs. J. J. Boyd entertained all members and friends at her residence, Queen’s Drive. A musical programme was contributed. Mrs. K'ug and Mrs. Jackson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Garnham, and Miss ’.ieil gave two recitations, all of which items were enthusiastically encored. Several competitions arranged by Mrs. Brooker caused much amusement. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Boyd and her two daughters. The members of the committee were kept busy with the sale of cakes and flowers. Mrs. Boyd was elected vice-president of the branch, her being carried with acclamation. At the close the president (Mrs. A. F. Tonks) thanked all who had helped to make the afternoon such a success and all the performers for their items.
