URBAN FARM LANDS

PROPOSED RATING BILL Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 4. A committee set up by the Municipal Association of New Zealand is to meet at Palmerston North on January 15, to frame a report to submit to the conference of the Municipal Association at Invercargill in March next, on some of the very important phases associated with the Urban Farm Lands Rating Bill. The committee comprises the Mayor and Town Clerk of Palmerston North, Feilding, Wanganui, and Masterton, and the Town Clerk of Stratford. When evidence was taken during the last session by' a Parliamentary committee, Palmerston North adopted the attitude that relief should be granted in many cases, but urged that it be by a reduction in values in lieu of the classification of lands. The measure, it will be remembered, was held over because of the numerous objections lodged.
