FIRES

OUTBREAK AT ORMONDVILLE. By Telegraph.—Press Association., Dannevirke, January 2. On New Year’s morning two buildings at Ormondville, a seven-roomed wooden residence in the heart of the township, owned by Mrs. David Wilson, and adjoining stores with a fiveroomed dwelling attached, owned and occupied by Mrs. C. Munro, with the contents of both, were demolished by fire. Mrs. Wilson was on holiday at New Plymouth. The house had been unoccupied for nine weeks. The fire started there. Nothing was saved. The efforts of the bucket brigade saved a house occupied by Mrs. Groome from destruction. The insurances are not available.
