VISITING THE HOSPITAL.

The following report on visiting at ’ the Wellington Hospital by members of the women's auxiliary of the board was made to the board yesterday: — The Wadestown League of Mothers visited the hospital from July 15 to July 28, 16 members taking part. The members of this league take great interest in the patients, and have been able to do a great deal to help those who arc in neCd. The children, too, are specially visited ■ as well as the patients in the- Victoria Wards. They also visited a patient who had gone to the Home for the Aged Needy, and while there found their visit much appreciated by all the inmates. Letters were written, messages and many little kindnesses done for several patients. Gifts of sweets,’fruits, gems and scones, eggs, cigarettes, writing material, books, magazines, and oranges and comic papers for the children, as well as a large cake left with the sister to be cut for them. The Seatoun League of Mothers visited from July 29 to August 11. five members taking part, and visiting 110 patients. The members of this league, too, take a •> special interest, in the work, and have been able to do very much to help and cheer the patients in all the wards. Gifts of fruit, flowers, tobacco, cigarettes,, cakes and eggs, were given. The Wellington W.C.T.U. visited from August 12 to 20. and 120 visits were paid in that time. The members of this society are very devoted to their duty, and 'gave a great deal of time to the Victoria Wards and the children’s wards. Gifts of flowers, fruit, cigarettes, were given, also writing material. The Victoria League visited from September. 2 to 15. The members of this league take a keen interest in the patients, and visit as many as possible each day of their period. Patients were helped very.materially, and gifts of small cakes, fruit, cigarettes, and magazines were given. The Central League of Mothers visited from September .17 to 30, and. during the that time 240 patients were visited. The members of i |his league devote a great deal of time to the Victoria Ward. The old people appreciate the services of the members in <loin- messages for them, and being made to feel they are not forgotten. bggs, cakes, sweets, books are given and much appreciated. St.John Nursing Guild report 303 visits paid to patients’ homes, 98 calls at tbe surgery, 26 new patients registered during the month, three removed to hospital, and one to the convalescent home. Many cases of distress were relieved, and groceries, clothing, and coal were supplied to many.

Mrs. McAllnm, Hawera, and Miss Auclrey Hughes-Johnson, AVangantii, intend presenting a combined danee and elocution recital at Hawera to-night. I* our young Wanganui dancers who will take part are Misses S. Vernon, S. Cramond, and O. and V. Jones. ... Mrs. Bartleed, Auckland, is visiting Wanganui and was matron of honour on Wednesday at the wedding of her sister, Miss Vera Bailey, to Mr. Hugh Speed, of Wanganui.
