HUTT COUNTY

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Hutt County Council met yesterday afternoon. Councillor D. R. Hoggard presided, and there were also present: Councillors W. V. Dyer. S. Blackley, F. Brady. J. Whiteman, R. L. Button, and B. McKay. The request of Stokes Valley residents that as the lights in the Taita Gorge were not altogether beneficial, they should be shifted to the valley, was agreed to. Mr. B. W. Dailey was appointed a ranger in the Heretaunga riding. Mr. M. M. Ross’s application for a permit to build on to a new road at the White and Coker subdivision, which has not yet been taken over by the council, was refused. The sanitary inspector reported that the Plimmerton drain did not constitute a menace to health.
