Ottawa, September 29.
The Federal Minister of Customs (the Hon. W. D. Euler), commenting on the move at the League of Nation! Assembly for the reduction and abolition of tariffs and the proposal for a two years’ tariff truce, declared:— “Pending possible developments in the United States, Canada should keep her hands absolutely free. The United States is now working on the tariff with a view to increasing it and shutting out our products, and I do not think it justifiable that our country should be open to countries which are closing their doors to us.” Mr. Euler has just returned from Geneva, where he was one of Canada’s delegates.
