TOURIST SEASON

ENCOURAGING PROSPECT The outlook for the coming tourist season is very encouraging, reports the Tourist Department. The big Matson liner Malolo, arriving at Auckland Ln December, has 300 visitors for New Zealand for a stay of a few days. However, It is hoped to extend the vessel’s journey to -Wellington, which will give the party a chance to see, in addition to the thermal sights, the Waitomo Caves and Wanganui River.

The Pacific Tours Ltd. (Mr. Wheeler) is to send three parties totalling 80, some for the North Island, some for the South, and some for both Islands. Arrangements for accommodation are now being made by the Department.

The Australian offices also notify numerous inquiries, and state that a lot of forward booking Is being done. The local Dominion traffic for the holidays promises to be large, and the Department is arranging for visits of the Tararua Tramping Club, and other similar organisations, to various resorts.

Each succeeding year, for a number of years past, has been a record one, and Mr. S. J. Collett, Acting-General Manager, considers that the coming season should see another record in touring business.
