Advantage is being taken of the Christchurch City Council's offer for improving suburban streets by planting trees on them (reports the “Press). For a charge of 10s. each resident, a row of trees will be planted down each side of a street, and the residents mny specify any particular kind of a tree they think will do well in their locality. The residents in one Richmond street hope to have an avenue of kowhais. Non-deciduous trees are generally favoured.
