OBITUARY
WILLIAM STUART GALLON. Carterton, November 24. The death took place at Dalefield on Saturday evening of Mr. William Stuart Gallon, a well-known farmer of the district. Deceased, who was 56 years of age, had not enjoyed the best of health for the past two years. He was the third son of the late Mr. Alen Gallon, who was among the pioneer settlers of the Wairarapa, and who for many years resided at Matarawa. Born in the district; the deceased took up farming, and was a successful breeder of Friesian dairy cattle, and was prominent with his stock in the show ring. He always took a keen interest in any movement promoted for the welfare of the district, being a member of the directorate of the Dalefield Cooperative Elairy Company, and the general committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, an ex-Wairarapa cricket representative, and a member of Court Marquis of Normanby, A.O.F. The late Mr. Gallon was twice married, his first wife predeceasing him in 1918 during the influenza epidemic. He is survived by a widow, and a family by the first marriage of two sons and two daughters, namely, Messrs. Leslie and Sydney Gallon, of Dalefleld, Mrs. M. Parker (South Carterton), and Miss Doreen Gallon (Dalefleld). Messrs. John Gallon (Matarawa), Alen (Swamp Road), Robert (Matarawa), and Charles'(Riverbank), are brothers, and Mesdames C. Udy (Hukanui), Atkins (Hukanui), R. Fitzgerald (Pouara, Gisborne), and Miss Flora Gallon (Carterton) are sisters. ,
