GOOD PRICES FOR CHOICE ALLOTMENTS. ’The demand which exists for choice residential sites in Wellington was proved by an attendance of some seven hundred people a-t Messrs. Harcourt Co.’s auction rooms last evening with a subdivision ot the well-known Grunge Estate, comprising 25 sections,. situated ut Highland Park, was offered for sale by auction. This area, which is bounded on tbe seaward side by Grosvenor Terrace and Watt Street, and on the landward side by Wadestown Road and Sefton Street, was originally held by the late Mr. W. B. Rhodes, and in more recent years has been the home of Sir Harold Beauchamp. The first offered was lot 25, comprising lr. 03.4 p. Bidding started at £5OO and rapidly advanced to £1360, at -which figure it was kuocked down to Mr. L. H. Herd. Lot 23, containing 37.9 perches, start, ed at £6OO and was bought by Mr. J. 11. Fowler, as agent, for £l6OO. Mr. Fowler, as agent, also secured lot 24, lr. 00.7 p., at £1550. . Much interest attached to the offering of lots 5,6, and 8, which include the Grange residence. Lot 5 consists of 20.7 p., lot 6 of 19.2 p., and lot 8 of 39.9 p. The purchaser was given the option of also taking lots 4 and 7 at the upset price.' Bidding commenced at £4OOO aud advanced to £4200, at which price lots 5. 6 and 8. with the residence, were secured by Air. J. t>. Swan, who exercised his right to take lot 4. 20.2])., at tbe upset price of £llOO. Others sales were made as follow: Lot 13 22 7p, £l2OO, Mr. J. Moloney; lot 15’ 19 Gp., £4OO. Mr. W. N. Pharazyn; lot 22, 21.3]).. £B5O. Sir. Eric Johnston. Lot 12. 10.9” was passed in at £1050: lot 11. 20.3 p.. at £lOOO lot: 10, 20p.. no bid; lot 9. 20p., at £1100; lot 7. 18.9 p.. at £1250; lot 3.. 20p., at £800; lot 2.19.2 p.. at £<00; 10t.14. 20.9 n.. nt. £S10: lot 16. 10n.. at £3<;>; lot 17 27.2 n.. nt £315; lot 21. 21. An., at £640: lot. 19. 20.9 p.. at £BO. The remaining sections failed to bring foith a Mr' S Harcourt, the auctioneer, stated after the sale that the prices realised had been most satisfactory.
