NEWTOWN WEST SCHOOL
EDUCATION BOARD REJECT PROPOSAL. The policy of the Education Board in relation to the Newtown School, was considered in committee at the board s meeting, held yesterday. It has been recognised that the erection of the Show Association’s building immediately adjoining the area intended for the Newtown West School, has greatly reduced the utility of that site for school purposes. Moreover, since the decision of the board was first reached, the number enrolled at the Newtown School has decreased by twohundred. The representatives _of the parents have both by deputation and by letter urged that by reason of the altered circumstances, the board should review its policy. The sites hav, in the meantime, been visited by members, and yesterday, in accordance with the notice given by Mr. A. C. Blake, seconded by Mr. C. H. Nicholls, the whole position was reviewed. The chairman, Mr. Forsyth, and other members, supported the proposal, and it was agreed unanimously, that the school should continue on its present site.
