CUSTOMS REVENUE
SMALL INCREASE A small increase in the Customs revenue collected at the port of Wellington in October is shown when compared with the figures for the corresponding month last year. The figures are:— October, 1928. Net Customs .... £220.992 19 2 Beer £5,217 12 8 October, 1927. Net Customs .... £208.062 4 5 Beer £4,179 19 7 The motor spirit tax yielded £SB2I 125., and the tire tax £566 7s. DUNEDIN FIGURES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, October 31. Customs returns for the month ended to-day were £72,081 19s. 7d., against £55,321 13s. for the corresponding period last year. The beer duty amounted to £25 069 13s. 6d., against £25,691 13s. Id. The tire tax was £1453 145., and petrol tax £4154 Ils. Sd.
