BOATSHEDS AT BALAENA BAY

Sir,—In the columns of your paper of August 3 a report appears of Councillor W. 11. Bennett having drawn attention to some disreputable structures being erected on the waterfront. inc report then goes on to state that the Harbour Board controls these structures. I wish to point out that the Barbour Board only controls the foreshore up to high-water mark, and the council controls the foreshore above high water. The Baths and Beaches Committee have had this matter before them for some months now and arc taking steps to prevent the erection of these sheds where they would be on councils property, and more stringent measures will probably be taken in the future. The Wellington Harbour Board have been endeavouring to improve the class of structure for some time past and have agreed to assist the City Council in a combined effort for the improvement oi the Town Clerk. Wellington, August 3.
