PUBLIC TRUST

Sir, —In your paper of July 12 you kindly published a letter from me under the above heading. In that letter (am! here, by the way, if you will permit me, I may say there were one or two typographical errors that (lid not improve orthography), I referred, inter alia, to a recommendation of (.he Royal Coinmission that sat in 1913 providing tor the appointment of advisory trustees to assist the Public Trustee in administering estates in accordance with the wishes and best interests of beneficiaries, and for the protection of the Public (trustee himself from possible charges ■ of- collusion, and I stated it was understood that that provision had been reduced to a nullity; Curiously enough, shortly alter my letter appeared I noticed tor the first time, occupying a prominent position in your paper, one ot those special advertisements designed by the Public Trustee to attract business, in which particular attention was directed to the advantage accruing from the appointment of advisory trustees. May I now suggest that the Public Irustee should amplify this advertisement by clearly pointing out the extent to which parties acting in the capacity of advisory trustees are allowed to co-operate, ami if they can do so to the full extent recommended by the Commission, ami to which recommendation effect was given bv Act of Parliament, advisory trustees securing thereunder the right of recourse to n Judge of the Supreme Court should any difference of opinion arise. 1 am, etc., OPTIC. Wellington, August 3.
