GRANT FOR DEMONSTRATION DESIRED. BY TELECBAPn. -PRESS ASSOCIATION Westport, May 9. In answer to a request by the Westport Fire Brigade that he urge the Government to restore tlie grant of £lOOO towards the next: demonstration in lebruary Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P.. stated his willingness to do so, and strongly urged the brigade to get the executive of the New Zealand Fire Brigade Association to form a deputation and meet the Prime Minister and other Ministers of the Crown, and to arrange for all members of Parliament who are In favour of the grant to form a deputation and get a definite promise from the Minister. It was suggested that the deputation meet during the first week of tlie session and arrange for an old lire brigade member of Parliament to speak on behalf of the members. This, |t is assumed, will be Mr. 11. Bellringer, of New Plymouth, a past president of tho association. Mr. Holland's letter has been forwarded to Mr. T. E. Watts, secretary of the associatiou, for him to act upon.
