LESS SCARLET FEVER IN WELLINGTON
Cases of infectious diseases reported to the district health authorities for the week ended at noon yesterday totalled sixty-three, this number bei.ng a decrease of twenty-five when compared with those for the preceding seven, days. --The most notable feature of this week’s return of notifiable diseases is the easing - off of scarlet fever in Wellington Central. A week ago there were thirty cases of this disease, but the latest bulletin issued by the department shows that these have dwindled down to five. In the Wanganui - Horowhenua, Wairarapa - East Cape and Nelson-Marlborough localities there was little alteration of note, Following are details of- cases in the various hospital districts, with those for the previous week given in parentheses
Wanganui - Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 1 (2); diphtheria, 3 (3) ; tuberculosis, 2 (0) ; pneumonia, 1 (4) ; poiiomyeylitis, 1 (0); total, 8 (9). Wairarapa-East Cape: Scarlet fever, 4 (6) ; diphtheria, 10 (11) ; tuberculosis, 2 (0) ; pneumonia, 2 (1) ; puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; total, 19 (18). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 5 (30) ; diphtheria, 2 (3) ; pneumonia, 1 (2) ; erysipelas, 2 (1); septicaemic influenza, 1 (0) ; enteric fever, 0 (1) ; tuberculosis, 0 (1); total, 11 (38). Nelson-Marlborough: Scarlet fever, 2 (2) ; diphtheria, 1 (0) ; tuberculosis, 1 (1) ; poliomyelitis. 1 (0) ; total, 5 (3). Grand total, 43 (68).
