WELLINGTON’S NEW OCEAN DRIVE
POPULAR WITH MOTORISTS During the holidays many thousands of motorists have traversed the new ocean drive —from Lyall Bay round to Seatoun, via the Heads—and have found the new road (winch begins at Onepa Road) to be a comfortable one on which to travel. The advantage oi paving an ocean view all the way from Seatoun to Island Bay is obvious, to which the safety of rhe road contributes not a little. There is one fairly sharp bend, approaching the fishermen’s huts, that demands the exercise of care, whilst the Bass of Bratida is a place where liberties may not be taken. The new road opens up some beautiful beach vistas, whilst the views st the Heads are ever-changing. The only “fly in the ointment’’ now is that stretch of bad road between Point Halswell and Scorching Bay. As it exists to-day, it is a menace to the springs of any car, and for the greater part of its length there is not room for two cars to pass ft is hoped that this road will be attended to this year.
