IS WARSHIP GOING TO SAMOA?

CRUISER DUNEDIN RETURNS TO AUCKLAND AN UNEXPECTED ORDER POSSIBILITIES OF TROUBLE PRIME MINISTER NONCOMMITTAL The fact that the cruiser Dunedin is at short notice leaving Akaroa and returning unexpectedly to Auckland leads to the conclusion that her ultimate destination may be Samoa. News from the Pacific Islands is that there has been serious trouble at the Solomon Islands, but another ship of war is dealing with that problem. So far there has been no news that serious trouble is anticipated at Samoa beyond the fact that some of the Samoans connected with the Mau and the Citizens’ Committee have been stressing the claim of "Samoa for the Samoans.” If there are two factions with different ideas—as appears to be the case at the moment —trouble may easily arise in Samoa, t.s has happened on previous occasions. Ministers are reticent. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. Nosworthy) says that so far as he knows no orders have been given for the Dunedin to proceed to Apia. The Prime Minister (Right Hon. ,1. G. 'Coates) also was noncom, niittal.

The Minister of Defence (Hon. F. .1. Rolleston) was equally noncommittal. “All I can say,” he added, "is that the exigencies of the service require that the ship should be in Auckland.”
