TAWN TENNIS

MASTERTON MEMORIAL CLUB. Masterton, October 10. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the opening ceremony on Saturday of the Memorial Tennis Club, which has now commenced its season. In his opening address the president (Mr. J. L. Hughes) said the members were to be congratulated upon such a. young club occupying the strong position it did, and it was evidtfit that great progress had been made. He asked members to recognise that the park where the courts weye situated was public property vested in the Trust Lands Trust, and that the more they assisted the club the more they helped the Memorial Park Board to bring the reserve to perfection for the benefit of the town. He extended a welcome to visitors, and wished the club a successful season. Afternoon tea was provided by the Indies’ Committee.
