DUNEDIN POST OFFICE

ERECTION OF NEW BUILDING. Cabinet yesterday decided to take preliminary steps towards the building of a new post office at Dunedin. The old building in Princes Street will be demolished, possibly by the beginning o( next month, and arrangements will be made for housing elsewhere the Depart: rnents at present in the building. When the site is clear it will be necessary to proceed with tests as to the bearing power of the land, and when these are completed tenders will be called for the new building, which will be of the maxiriium height allowed by the by-laws of the city. The building will be constructed of steel and concrete with appropriate facing material.
