MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE CASES. Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M.. dealt with police cases iu the Magistrate's Court yesterday. "I found the two bottles ot beer amongst some empty bottles, so I didn't see any harm iu selling them. For that matter I could have drunk it myself without anyone finding out,”- said William Arthur Murphy, a driver, aged 37, who was charged with stealing two bottles of beer valued at 35.. the property of Bartholomew John Kelleher. "You have had your chance, Murphy.," said the Magistrate, "for .you have been convicted on forty-five charges of theft, although some of them were only minor charges, it. is true. You will be sentenced to o.ne month’s imprisonment.” David Macintosh, aged 47. and Gordon Thompson, a tailor, aged 39. were each fined £5. in default one month’s imprisonment. for behaving in an effensive manner on Mount Victoria.
