IN SCHOOL COMMITTEES. The Wellington School Committees’ Association revealed itself in favour of a change in its existence last night when Mr. W. 11 Phillips moved that the life of school committees should be extended for two years as from Maylast. Mr. 11. M. Harris seconded. The importance of carrying out works of policy with continuity led Mr. J. K. Burley to support the motion. Mr/C. 11. Nicholls thought that it the whole committee were elected every two .years the householders would not know what was going on. For this reason he proposed Hint half the committee should retire annually. -Mr F Twort seconded this . if the parents wished to make a complete change they should be able to make it, stated Mr. L. Hennessy, who condemned "any half-and-half business.” -Tw©-years was not unduly long for the life of a committee. The amendment was carried.
