“TIRED OF LIFE
MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
Dominion Special Service. Christchurch, September 12. "I am tired of life and will end everything," were the words with which James Joseph O'Malley intimated that he intended to commit suicide. He made the attempt, but failed, and this morning he was asked in the Magistrate 6 Court to explain why. , . The police stated that accused went home on Friday last under the -influence of liquor. He and his. wife startea arguing as to what he had done nis money. It was then that accused tnreatened to take his life. The threat was not ■regarded seriously, and his wife went away to prepare tea. When she returned she found that O’Malley had drunk some iodine and was very ill, and he was at once removed to the hospital. At the suggestion of -the -Magistrate (Mr. E. D. Mosley. S.M.), accused agreed to take out a prohibition order. On this understanding he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon and to pay £1 13s. 3d., expenses incurred.
