FARMERS’ UNION
RURAL CREDITS DISCUSSED. Palmerston North. December 4. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu provincial executive of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held to-day,\Mt. O. P. Lynch (Paraparatimu) presiding. The Dominion executive wrote advising of a resolution carried to the effect that committees be set tin in the different provinces to further the agitation in the direction of having adopted the recommendations of the Rural Credits Commission. The chairman explained that it was considered that the Rural Credits Bill was passed only as a stop-gap to allow the Bank of New Zealand Bill to go through. The Dominion executive was asking that the full report of the Banking Commission be acted upon, with the exception of the provision that the arfricultural bank be the bank at issue. Mr. J. Gloyn remarked that it seemed to him that those who were ex periencing hard times would not benefit by the scheme. After discussion it was decided that the whole executive. lie set up as a special committee to go into the question. A letter was read from the Te Horo branch advising that a resolution bad been carried asking if some of the provincial meetings might be held in places other than Palmerston North. It was suggested that the various branches could hold provincial meetings during the year at the southern and northern branches in turn After discussion it was decided to hold the matter over until the annual meeting, and that the meetings continue to be held in Palm erston North for this year.
