WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES A sale of Huddart Parker- ordinary shares at 45/- made on change at the afternoon call was the only transaction recorded yesterday. There was a moderate demand for stocks and shares. Ths 4.J por cent. (1930) were in demand at A97/15/-, and the 5i per cent, at £99/12/6, a rise of 2/6. Bank shares were firm, but quiet. There were bids of £6/19/cum dividend for National Bank shares, and 59/- for Western Australia Bank, a rise of 3d. Sellers quoted 62/6 for Bank of New Zealand shares and £l5/11/- cum dividend for Union Bank shares. There was a fair demand for the shares of financial companies with buyers of Goldsbrough Mort and Co.’s shares at 47/9, N.Z. Guarantee Corporation ordinary at 9/9, Equitable Building at £B/17/6, Wellington Trust and Loan at £6/3/-, and Wellington Investment at 10/6 cum dividend. Gas shares were firm with buyers of Auckland Gas at 23/9, Christchurch Gas at 24/-, Napier Gas (£lO paid) at £lO/17/6, and Wellington Gas. ordinary, at 27/-. National insurance shares were 2/- higher at 82/6. There were buyers of Huddart Parker ordinary shares at 44/10, and Union Steam preference at 20/-.
