MEMORIAL UNDER WAY. No time has been lost over the malities in connection with the change of control of the Fire Brigade from the City Council to the, Firo Board. The memorial, together with a declaration of ’•ho poll, has been forwarded to the Department of Internal Affairs, with an accompanying letter urging the conveyance of the transfer of authority as soon as possible. The financial year of fire boards generally throughout New Zealand does not end until June 30, so there may be some little delay in order that the change of control may become effective on Julv 1. In the meantime, valuations will have to be gone into, and the board, through its inspector (Captain Hugo) will decide as to how much of the existing plant at the Central and Constable Street stations, it is propared to take over.
