NORTHLAND TUNNEL INQUIRY
IVHY WERE THE PRESS EXCLUDED?
“For what reason was the Press excluded from the Northland tunnel inquiry?” asked Councillor R. Semple at last night’s meeting of the City Council. Councillor H. D. Bennett: Is Councillor Semple in order in raising the question while the matter is sub judice? Councillor R. A. Wright, who filled the chair in tho temporary absence of tho Mayor, upheld the point of order. Ho explained that he did not think the commission had commenced to take evidence yet < Councillor A. L. Monteith asked if the order of reference for the inquiry had been altered in accordance with the decision of the council, and if not, why not. It appeared that the questions asked by councillors had been taken as a joke. Councillor Wright said he could not answer this question, and referred Councillor Monteith to the Ma.yor.
