CONSIDERABLE DECREASE LOCALLY The bulletin issued by the Wellington District Health Office for the week ending 9 a.m. yesterday showed a considerable decrease in the number of infectious diseases reported, as compared with the previous week’s return. The following are the details, the previous week’s figures being given in parentheses : — Taranaki-Horowhenua: Scarlet fever, 3 (2) ; diphtheria, 5 (5) ; tuberculosis, 5 ( —) ; puerperal fever, 1 ( —) ; total, 14 (10) Wairarapa-East Coast: Diphtheria, 1 (9) ; enteric fever, 1 (3) ; tuberculosis, 3 (2) ; erysipelas, 1 (2) ; pneumonia. 2 (2) ; anthrax, 1 ( —) ; total, 9 (23). Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 3 (11) ; diphtheria, 1 (7) ; tuberculosis, 1 ( —) ; total, 5 (20). Nelsoy-Marlborcugh: Scarlet fever, 1 (—) ; pneumonia, 1 (—) ; total, 2 (1). Grand total, 30; previous week, 54.
