A Maori lad’s peculiar sense of honour in placing a board studded with nails on the main roadway near the hostel, and carefully covering it over with clavj wrought havoc amongst the tires of 'five Hamilton cars proceeding one behind the other to the Waitomo Caves (states the "Waikato Times’). With eight burst tires amongst them, an indignant party of motorists went out searching for the culprit, who was found a little later preparing another similar trap for passing cars. Motorists who have used the Taylor Pass road report that there is a need for the erection of a railing across the old road into the ford at the tluiii crossing, near the waterworks dam (states the "Marlborough Express ) A deviation has been made, but there is nothing to show that the. original road is not usable, find there is a danger of an accident occurring if a barrier is not constructed.
