DUNEDIN EXHIBITION
First impressions are often the ones that linger longest in the memory, ana visitors to the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition at Dunedin will. it is stated, get their first thrill when they sight the turreted entrance way to the Pleasure Land, whose gates will open nn November 17. In the entrance building there will be a complete model fire station, with sleeping and living quarters for four firemen, who will maintain a day and night watch all the time that the exhibition is open, police <lenot. and a luggage office with an attendant to look after visitors’ valuables. The engine room of tho fire station will be large enough to take a machine with a ladder capable of reaching the high roofs of the exhibition buildings. A complete system of fire alarm boxes similar to ordinary city installations will .guard the exhibition nt every point against the possible danger of fire. Every day brings fresh proof that "it pays tn advertise.” Gn August 16 an exhibition advertisement appeared in the Press throughout New Zealand. Three days later, when the first mail from tho North Island arrived, the accommodatioru. bureau had received some 260 applications for accommodation from Auckland, Frankton, Hamilton, Taihape, Palmerston North. Gisborne. Napier, AVaipawa, Waipukurau, Masterton. New Plymouth. Hawera, AVansranui, AA'ellincton. Nelson. Greymouth AVestmrt. Hokitika, Christchurch, Ashburton, Timaru, Waimate, Geraldine. Oamaru, Gore, Invercargill. It would appear that, although there are still three months to go 'before the exhibition will open, people all over New Zealand are aiready laying their plans for a visit to Dunedin.
