T’RAAIWAY’S BENEFIT SOCIETY PROPOSAL.
Certain proposals concerning incapacitated men of the tramway service were placed before the Tramways Committee of the council recently by the Tramway Union, and a request made that the council should arrange for the formation of a benefit Society, and that subscriptions of employees be subsidised £1 for £1 by the council until a reserve fund of £lO6O was created. The committee reported to the council last night that it could not se.e its way to recommend that the proposals made by the union be adopted at the present time.
