NEW TRAM CARS

Two more tramcars of the latest design are to bo placed in service this week, and the parts ior another batch of twelve are now being worked up and assembled at the Newtown workshops. The new cars will make a big difference in tho carrying capacity of the tramway rolling stock, but this clioes not represent finality in the building programme. The erection of new workshops at Kilbirnie will enable production to be very considerably speeded up, and will permit also of the building of bus bodies should the corporation decide to go in for this form of transport upon a largo scale. The next work to be done nt Kilbirnie will probably be the erection of another wing to the tram barns, to be used, for the time being at any rate, as a garage for the council’s buses. Later on. a more central garage ma.v be erecteG. The first of the council’s buses should be upon the road in a few days.
