BRITISH MINERS
EXTREMISTS ROUTED AT CONFERENCE MOTION FOR NEW WAGES DEMAND DEFEATED By Telegraph.—Press AssociationCopy bight. London, May 21. How badly the extremists were routed is revealed by official figures of the voting at the Miners’ Conference at Blackpool, at which 571,000 to 230,000 side-stepped a motion for the prepaiation of new wages demands. Ihe executive threw their weight in favour of inaction. No doubt the result of the disclosure of the serious plight of the industry at the owners’ and miners joint conference, which will now further investigate a solution of the slump, affected the vote. The next interesting test of strength between the militants and the, moderates will 'be the union s conference on June 4, which will discuss a revival of the triple alhauce. • Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
