MISCHIEVOUS BOYS
DAMAGE IN CITY PREMISES A gang of mischievous youngsters have been operating in the city during the past few weeks to the detriment of a large amount of property. On one occasion produce premises were entered, and the intruders diverted themselves by mixing together as much, butter and cheese as they could lay their hands on. The damage was considerable. In other cases, office windows were broken, and the equipment in the rooms turned upside down. Two shops, one a tobacconists’, were-also visited.
The operations of the gang covered an area including Dixon Street, Customhouse Quay, '’Taranaki Street, and Tborndon Quay. It is estimated that goods to the total value of .£‘lo are missing, iu addition to which -much property has been damaged. Detectives Hunt and Tumulty have had the matter iu hand, and yesterday they rounded up about ten boys whose ages range from 8 to 12 years, and who will shortly be called .upon to give an account of their actions before a Magistrate.
