WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION
COMMITTEE’S REPORT. A meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington War Relief Association was held yosto»<!ay, the chairman (Mr. L. O. 11. Tripp) presiding. Also present were: Messrs. C. M. Luke, A. Veitch, C. Wilson, and A. Mclntosh.
The Applications and Emergency Committees reported that there had been no alteration in the general activities of the committee. Assistance differing widely in description had been given to partially disabled soldiers, to others who were discharged fit and subsequently developed a war disability, and to the* widowed mothers and widows of soldier’s who fell in action. Since the last meeting the Applications Committee had had 191 cases under action, and the Emergency Committee dealt with 69. Of the 201 persons who visited the office 148 applied for direct assistance and 53 for indirect assistance. The Finance Committee dealt with nine applications for monetary assistance by way of loan. Of the four new claims, one the responsibility of another society, was declined by them; two of the 'others exceeding the maximum amount permitted were declined; end the remaining application was defprrccl. The financial statement showed the total available funds at March 31 last «s .£34,893 10s. Sd.
